I want to apologize to all my blog followers for the extra-long hiatus. I've had a bit of a dry spell you might say, trying to think of what to right and all.
So I've finally decided I'm going to write about what's been on my mind lately. The other evening at church we had a open time for sharing. We had many of our new members step up and say that they are so thankful that our church has such great pastors preaching from the word of God, and not holding back. Now more than ever I thank God for Pastor Greg, Pastor Roger, and Pastor Sean. I'm not someone who has heard many people preach, but I have heard a few people who just get up, and hardly use their Bibles. The messages are easy. This mostly applies to youth. They don't challenge us. I think this falls into the whole "Christian Culture" that the church is transforming into today. If you want to know what I mean by a culture, walk into a Christian book store. There you'll find all sorts of Christian-themed items. This is what my generation in the church is being told. "Buy you're Christian t-shirts, Christian CDs, Christian Movies, Christian books, Christian iPod covers. Than come back to church and have a party. Forget about serious things. Those aren't fun. Besides, they're hard to swallow."
I've been thinking about this more and more as the Youth group works through the spiritual dicsiplines, and as I read "Hard to Belive" by John McArthur.
